LEATHER BILL

LEATHER BILL

At Arlei, we have taken part, alongside other industry representative, in an informational meeting held by the National Chamber of Deputies to promote the Leather Law. This proposed legislation seeks to regulate the use of the term “leather” in Argentina, establishing that only products made from animal hides can be marketed as such.

For genuine leather manufacturers, the law represents protection against unfair competition from counterfeit or lower-quality products that are falsely marketed as real leather. It helps to uphold high standards within the industry, promoting the production of leather, a sustainable material, with its own versatility and unique characteristics.

It also aims to ensure that consumers are not misled by products they believe to be made of genuine leather, providing them with clarity and confidence about the materials they are purchasing.

We will continue to actively support the progress of this initiative through the next stages until it becomes a law.
