To be sustainable you need a responsible team!
At Arlei, we work with a business model oriented towards sustainable management. Since 2021 we have been elaborating Sustainability Reports in line with global reporting trends, and in accordance with the GRI Standards, in which we reflect the actions that transform our relationship with the environment and the communities where we operate.
On this occasion and thanks to the efforts of all of us who make up Arlei, we are proud to present the second edition of the report, where we share with you the achievements reached during the year 2022.

Sustainability
Certified for the first time in 2001, our environmental management, based on the ISO 14001 regulation, has turned us into a company fully committed with the environment, with totally positive results. Since 2011, we have submitted to the international assessment of the Leather Working Group, and have successfully been granted the GOLD LEVEL, placing us among one of the companies with higher environmental performance. Our engineering team is constantly working on research, implementation and use of renewable energy, such as use of rain water, solar panels, gas production from sludge, production of biodiesel from fat, and aeolic energy.
Animal Welfare
Considering the market trend, we, in Arlei, are working together with our raw hides suppliers (slaughterhouses and their feedlots) to achieve 100% traceability in order to guarantee animal care and well-being, considering their physical, emotional care, and comfort from the moment they are born and throughout their lives, and to guarantee that they come from non-deforested areas. Although we do not own the cattle, we have developed a careful policy based on working together with our suppliers, the government health control department, SENASA, and our audit team. We have developed a powerful information system tool for the traceability of the complete supply chain records, being able to access the information of each one of the batches, from the raw material to the final product. The result of all the achievements mentioned above places us at the vanguard of our production field, and allows us not only to comply with the requirements of international regulations such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001, but to contribute with the animal welfare, care of native forests and sustainability in the productive systems.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Along our business life, we have become part of the society where we actively operate with our presence and compromise in every project, and cooperate with their development in terms of health, education, urbanism, and all the aspects which can contribute to improve the life quality of the community. Starting 2022, we have undergone the SMETA audit (Sedex Members Ethics Trading Audit) that measures the status of the organization with respect to Sedex´s good practices guidelines, following the principles of the ETI Code (Ethical Trading Initiative) we actively worked on adapting our documentation to these guidelines in order to align the different plants of the organization towards sustainable development.
Workspace Culture
In the last few years, we have been working together with the international corporation Great Place to Work®, completing the corresponding survey and entering the ranking of the best places to work for organizations with more than 1000 employees.
